Weather & Climate

Planning your visit to Pambele?

Here’s what you need to know about the weather and climate to help you choose the best time for your trip.

Each season offers its unique charm, whether you prefer the lush, vibrant landscapes of the rainy season or the perfect tropical weather of the dry season.

Climate Overview

Mozambique’s coastline stretches nearly 2,000 kilometers, with latitudes from about 11° to 27° South, and experiences a tropical ocean current year-round.

Despite this range, Southern Mozambique generally follows a Southern African weather pattern.

December to March:

This is the rainy season. Humidity can be high, and rainfall is more frequent. The rains tend to last a few weeks longer in the north than in the south.

April to May:

The rains start to subside, the sun emerges, and humidity drops. The weather improves gradually from south to north. Many say the best time of year to visit.

June to November:

This is the dry season, featuring clear skies, abundant sunshine, and minimal rain. It’s the best time for most visitors, although it can get windy later in the year. June, July, and August are the coolest months, with daytime temperatures over 30°C but cooler nights requiring a light duvet. September and October remain dry with rising daytime temperatures, though nights are cooler.

The combination of tropical weather, low annual rainfall due to the rain shadow of Madagascar, and protection from tropical storms makes Pambele an attractive destination year-round.
